A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER
The Story Behind MyHealthPrep
I built the app I always wished I had.
It all started in the summer of 2025, while I was living in Dallas, Texas. Almost every evening after work, I found myself asking the same question: “What should I cook today?”
Having worked out for years and experimented with everything from keto and paleo to high-protein and vegetarian diets, I understood calories, macros, and the importance of good nutrition.
But knowing what to eat and actually planning, preparing, and sticking to healthy meals every day were two very different things.
I would spend ages scrolling through YouTube and Instagram looking for recipes, only to end up ordering takeout because deciding what to cook had become exhausting.
I wanted something simpler. An app that understood my fitness goals, helped me choose meals I actually enjoyed, calculated my nutritional needs, and took the daily guesswork out of eating healthy.
Essentially, I wanted to put healthy meal planning on autopilot.
But nutrition was only half the equation.
I also wanted a workout companion that could track my progress, help me train consistently, and keep me focused between sets.
Something that would help me stay engaged with my workouts instead of getting distracted by my phone or losing track of my rest periods.
So I decided to bring both together.
That's how MyHealthPrep began.
With over 14 years of experience in software development and data engineering, and years of personal experience with fitness apps and different diets, I set out to build something that combined practical functionality with thoughtful engineering.
I've experienced firsthand the challenges of switching from a meat-heavy diet to vegetarian eating, particularly when trying to maintain adequate protein intake.
I carefully selected and tested recipes, made it easy to import favorites from across the internet, and brought meal planning, calorie tracking, and a feature-rich workout diary into one place.
I also wanted to remove another common frustration: having to pay for several different subscriptions just to manage nutrition, recipes, and workouts.
My goal was never to create the most expensive or complicated fitness app.
It was to build something genuinely useful, reliable, thoughtfully designed, and affordable.
I believe good software comes from understanding both the problem and how to solve it. My background in fitness helped me understand what was missing, while my experience in programming and data engineering helped me turn those ideas into a practical product.
I've put a great deal of time, care, and personal experience into MyHealthPrep.
And this is only the beginning. I have many more recipes, improvements, and features planned for the future, with the intention of keeping MyHealthPrep accessible and affordable.
I built the app I always wished I had. Now I hope it makes your health and fitness journey a little easier, too.
